Explore Historic Hungary
Hungary is a land rich in culture and natural beauty. Teaching in Hungary can lead to new discoveries in this storied country's old-world traditions. Our teachers' have crushed grapes at harvest festivals, basked in celebrated thermal spas, and savored gourmet meals seasoned with local paprika.
The most rewarding experience by far is getting to know the Hungarian people and their complex history and culture. Your genuine faith and committed service can be a refreshing sign of hope to your students and community.
In the year-long program, you will teach high school students who know some English but need practice to become fluent.
In the summer program, you will serve in Hungarian refugee camps. Students will come from war-torn countries and will have varying levels of English.

Director's Notes
A note from our Central Europe Regional Director:Áldás Békesség! When I visited Hungary this year, I fell head over heels in love with the culture and the teachers who serve there. This year, I visited two of our teachers who are serving in Sarospatak, Hungary—a town about 4 hours from Budapest. I got to attend a Salagavato, or senior year pinning ceremony. There were fantastic performances from each senior class and the dinner afterwards was a wonderful time for the teachers to connect with their students. Hungary is a dynamic country in need of the Gospel. In Budapest, one team is very involved with their students, going to their various activities and inviting them over for what they call “Open Bazis”, or open house, where students come over and hang out and talk together. If you are interested in serving a place with a unique culture that is in need of God’s light, come to Hungary! After your first bowl of Goulash, you won’t regret it!
We can't tell you how glad we are that we said "yes" to TeachOverseas; we consider our experiences in Hungary as some of the best of our lives.
